My Background
Qualifications and Training
After finishing my junior surgical training in South Wales, I continued directly into specialist registrar training, again in South Wales. I purposefully sought specific hand surgery training in both Cardiff and Swansea as part of this.
After completing my training I was offered a British Society for Surgery of the Hand Advanced Interface Fellowship at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. These highly coveted fellowships are offered yearly, to the highest performing registrar surgeons in the UK, and represent the pinnacle of hand surgery training. They cover the breadth of hand surgery including orthopaedic and plastic surgery techniques.
After a year in Nottingham, I completed a second fellowship at the world renowned Pulvertaft Hand Centre. Here I learnt advanced techniques in wrist fracture treatment, reconstruction and joint replacement in the hand and wrist.
I have completed the British Diploma of Hand Surgery - a jointly run specialist hand qualification offered by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and Manchester University. I was awarded the 2017 Gold medal for achieving the highest result in the examination.
I have also completed a MD research thesis in which I developed a Patient Reported Outcome Measure for use after severe trauma. This was awarded by Swansea University in July 2017.
